Remarks: The plant is located at the Puma pulp mill of Brazilian pulp and paper producer Klabin. This plant receives financial support from the Brazil National Agency of Electrical Energy (ANEEL). It is located next to a paper mill with a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year. A recovery boiler with a processing capacity of 7,000 tons of black liquor will also be installed at the mill. In March 2016 it was published that Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has granted a loan of USD 300 million for the project.
As announced in May 2020, Austria-based technology company Andritz will supply a biomass gasification plant (unit 2) and a biomass handling line to Klabin's plant. The gasification plant will replace the heavy fuel oil currently burned in one of the mill's lime kilns.
